Role and position of parent committees

Summary

The club consists of gymnasts, their guardians, coaches, office and management. We are working together to create the foundations of sports and life education for our young members. In gymnastics, trained coaches and guardians play an important role in the overall nurturing process, including, total exercise, rest and nutrition.

Parent committees are formed and operate on a sport specific basis. Once a season, there is a meeting where all the sports meet to create a common annual calendar and agree on communication and other practical matters.

Tasks of parent committees

The committees are an important link between the rest of the club and the guardians. They are vital to organizing events and a great help in fundraising. In practice, we organize competitions for each sport 1-2 times a year, as well as a number of other member events (Christmas how, awards, etc.). They are typically voluntary tasks, along with a fundraiser buffet.

The parent committees are made up of individuals chosen by a parent meeting. The committee shall have a chairperson and a treasurer and any number of members. These persons do not need to be members of EsTT. In practice, members of a parent committee may include guardians of all the competitive and / or pastime groups, but there may be a sports specific agreement, for example, only the activities of a competitive group and so-called core groups that take care of the organization of volunteer work and accounting.

Powers of a parent committee

The parent committees organizes their activities independently. A bank account set up by the club is used for fundraising purposes and the account management rights for the bank are established by the club board.

The resources and decisions on the use of the funds are matters for the committee itself. Typical subjects include support for clothing or equipment, and support for camp / competition trips.

Decisions should consider taxpayers’ interpretations of what taxable income is and how the results of voluntary work can be shared. It is also worth considering the time span when using the funds. It is not worth saving money for a very long time, as the motivation for voluntary work decreases rapidly if the caregivers who made the money do not see it being used.

A typical committee has a couple of thousand euros in cash. One buffet typically produces 800-1200 €

Official status of the parent committee

The committee is an autonomous unit whose activities are primarily governed by the accounting act and interpretations by the tax authorities. The committee is responsible for its own affairs and maintains its own accounts. The accounting and assets are included in the EsTT financial statements (notes). The resources and decisions on the use of the funds are matters for the committee itself. Decisions should take into account taxpayers’ interpretations of what taxable income is and how the results of the voluntary work can be shared.
